GEBIE Civil and Construction (GCC) is the commercial subsidiary of Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation (GEBIE). GCC undertakes Civil and Construction projects across the Groote Archipelago and has a commercial workshop for vehicles, plant and equipment.
Due to the award of several exciting new projects we have an opportunity for an experienced Truck Mechanic to join the team.
The position is FIFO with flights provided from Darwin or Cairns on an 18-days-on/10-days-off flexible roster.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical work and preventative maintenance on Heavy Road Haulage Equipment such as Haulage Trucks and Side Tippers
- Assist in the development and training of staff, particularly providing opportunities for Indigenous staff.
- While working, you will also have the opportunity to gain exposure on other auxiliary machinery such as Loaders, Cranes, EWP, CAT equipment and more.
Skills and Experience required:
- Heavy Diesel Trade Certificate with 5+ years trade experience.
- Experience working with Heavy Road Haulage Equipment
- Experience working with Hydraulics, Air Systems and Road Side Breakdowns
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to pass a full medical
