Tuckshop Convenor & OSHC Cook/Chef

Work school hours - no weekends!  

The Wellers Hill State School P & C Association are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Cook/Chef for our Tuckshop and our OSHC Service. 

Tuckshop Convenor 

• Our Tuckshop currently operates 4 / 5 days a week during term time, providing a range of popular and delicious meals and snacks to children in our school community
• Up to 15 hours per week 

OSHC Cook/Chef 

• Our OSHC Service operates 5 days a week during term time and school holiday periods, regularly providing breakfast (6:45am start) for up to 80 children and afternoon tea for up to 250 children 
• Up to 25 hours per week

It is possible that the same applicant could be employed in both roles, working up to 38 hours per week during term time with flexibility during school holiday periods. 

Key responsibilities of both roles include-

• Ensuring best practice food safety standards and hygiene practices are in place within the kitchen environments
• Passionate about preparing healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for primary school age children, supporting a range of dietary requirements   
• Developing menus, ordering stock and managing kitchen operations, within an allocated budget, to support our P & C Goals

Successful applicant/s will- 

• Hold a Positive Working with Children Check (or be willing to gain)
• Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (preferred) and/or a Food Safety Supervisor certificate (minimum)
• Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Commercial kitchen environment 
• Have an understanding of the Smart Choices program for Queensland Schools
• Demonstrated ability to uphold a high standard of food safety and hygiene practices
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team 
• High level organisation skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage tasks   

Experience in a similar role will be viewed favourably.

Employment will be as per the P & C Queensland Award (Casual $30.38-$34.69, PPT/FT $24.30-$27.75) with above award remuneration possible for the right applicant.
