Mount Isa Mines is looking for a Laboratory Senior Chemist to be responsible for a variety of assay related tasks to support the plant operations of the Copper and Zinc/Lead business units. This challenging role will see you work closely with all areas of the business to ensure that the analytical demands are met in an accurate and timely fashion. This position is a residential position based in Mount Isa.

You will be responsible for:
- Calibrating, Operating and Maintaining analytical equipment
- Implementing and developing quality systems
- Developing, Commissioning and Validating new equipment and procedures
- Troubleshooting quality issues and providing technical support to production
- Providing training and mentorship to Laboratory Technicians, Assistants and Chemists.
- Preparing and critique technical reviews and reports providing recommendations
- Conducting and documenting Risk Assessments on equipment and processes
- In collaboration with the other Laboratory Senior, accept the Laboratory leadership role in the absence of the Laboratory Superintendent
- Effectively managing and supervising the purchased concentrate team
- Maintain and manage the laboratory QAQC programs
- Ensure all laboratory audits are performed on time to maintain NATA scope
- Maintaining the NATA ISO17025 accreditation requirements for current scope of works
- Tertiary Qualifications in Science or Chemistry. Bachelor of Science (Chemistry)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Previous experience with Classical Titrations, AAS, GFAA, ICP, XRF, Metallurgical Analytical Techniques and Metrohm Technologies
- A strong knowledge of analytical chemistry and its implementation in a mining environment
- A proficient knowledge of NATA Quality Management Systems.
- A strong focus on implementing and monitoring QAQC protocols
- Experience with LIMS systems in particular Labware
- A focus on safety in the workplace
- Ability to work within a team environment.
