About the Project
The Project involves the transition from an open pit mine to an underground mine, whereby ore will be mined from underground ore bodies using sub level cave mining techniques.
The Jwaneng diamond mine is currently an open pit mine located in south-central Botswana about 120 kilometers (75mi) west of Gaborone, in the Naledi river valley of the Kalahari. Jwaneng Mine is owned by Debswana, a partnership between the De Beers company and the government of Botswana.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor, for a role at our Underground Project in Botswana. We are seeking people that are passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge of Australian Mining methods and processes to transfer to the Batswana workforce as part of an Integrated Operating Team with the Mine Owner.
Basic function of the position:
The role as an Electrical Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the electrical team to meet all statutory and project electrical requirements. You will also be required to assistant the Project Manager and Electrical Superintendent in electrical planning, resource allocation and scheduling. Providing leadership and direction to the electrical team. Supervise all electrical personnel and work activities underground during your shift to ensure adherence to Redpath site procedures, policies and relevant Mine Safety and Inspection Regulations
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Execute and maintain electrical system records, drawings, designs etc in accordance with industry standards and requirements.
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments as required to ensure all works are conducted in a safe manner to eliminate the risk of injury to personnel and damage to equipment.
- Keep the Project Manager and Superintendent aware of the state of equipment in the mine with respect to potential problem areas.
- Maintain a stable electrical operations workforce and act as the first point of grievance for the crew;
Minimum qualifications and experience required for this position:
- Electrical Trade Certificate, with High Voltage Switching qualifications.
- Driver’s License, First Aid & CPR
- Minimum 10 Years’ experience in electrical installation and maintenance in an Underground Mining environment
- Experience maintaining Sandvik range of mobile equipment.
- In-depth, extensive knowledge and application of safe and reliable electrical installation and maintenance practices to maximise equipment and system reliability.
- Lead continuous improvement and encourage an environment of innovation.
