Kestrel is one of the world's largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually. Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process. The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD. Our team's capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation. We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role:
We're thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Underground Electrical Systems Coordinator to join our Engineering team. This site-based role at Kestrel mine operates on a Monday to Friday or 9-day fortnight roster. As the Underground Electrical Systems Coordinator, you will be instrumental in designing, maintaining, implementing, and enhancing electrical equipment, facilities, and systems to support the site's operations. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with operational teams and stakeholders to identify engineering product improvements, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, providing supervision and training to project team members and technicians, and contributing to the preparation of scopes of work for installations, relocations, and removals of Electrical Systems.

In this role, you will support Kestrel by:
- Designing, maintaining, implementing Life of Mine electrical equipment, facilities or systems for the site's purposes with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Consulting the operational team and other stakeholders on existing or potential Life of Mine electrical product improvements or additional projects.
- Ensuring that installation and operational standards are conformed to.
- Ensuring compliance with specifications, regulatory requirements or operational requirements.
- Preparation of scope of works associated with Life of Mine Real Time Gas High Voltage, Monitoring & Wi-Fi Installations, Relocations and Removal.
- Estimating material, labour or construction costs for budget preparation.
- Supervision and training of Life of Mine project team members and technicians on an as needed basis.
About you:
- Electrical Fitter/Mechanic Competency - Queensland or Electrical Engineering Degree
- Hazardous Area Competency (EEHA)
- Minimum 5 years working experience in Coal Mining
- High Voltage Competency (desirable)
- Underground Electrical Engineering Manager Competencies (desirable)
- Operations experience using SAP or similar computer based maintenance system (desirable)
- Operations experience using PLC/SCADA/CITECT (desirable)
