AIC Mines owns the Eloise Copper Mine located near Cloncurry, QLD. Eloise is an underground mine with conventional crush-grind-float processing to produce a high-quality copper-gold concentrate. AIC Mines has recently commenced an expansion of the Eloise operation following the acquisition of the nearby Jericho resource. The Company also owns a portfolio copper and gold exploration projects located across Australia.

About the position:
Are you a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer with 3+ years of underground experience? AIC Mines is actively seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this position, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the stability and efficiency of our underground operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Integrating geotechnical insights into mine design, production sequencing, and infrastructure excavations, ensuring reliable production access.
- Upholding optimal ground control standards by implementing sequencing guidelines and evaluating performance.
- Maintaining communication channels with staff and contractors to ensure safety and statutory compliance.
- Utilising appropriate tools for engineering data analysis, classification, and design.
- Executing daily geotechnical tasks, including monitoring, analysis, and inspections.
- Processing, analysing, and reporting seismic data.
- Providing geotechnical input for mine design, scheduling, and compliance.
- Designing, monitoring, and supporting ground control systems, including geotechnical mapping and hazard reporting.
- Applying practical knowledge of rock mechanics and mining engineering to operational challenges.
This position is offered on a 8/6 roster from Townsville, Brisbane or Cairns. Accommodation is provided onsite at the Eloise Copper Mine 65km from Cloncurry. Local candidates from Cloncurry or surrounding communities can commute via bus from Cloncurry and are encouraged to apply.
About You:
- Degree qualified in Geotechnical, Civil or Mining Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering in underground metalliferous mining.
- Proficient in IMS and geotechnical software packages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- A commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
- Manual QLD driver’s license.
- Hold a high regard for safety by following safe working practices.
- Physically fit and able to pass medical assessment and police clearance.
