Barrick Gold’s Porgera operation is seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to join our team at the Porgera Mine as Underground Supervisors Development.

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports. NPL offers experienced mining professionals the opportunity to play an important role in the training and development of our national workforce. The ideal candidate must have:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in underground mining, with proven experience in a supervisory role
- Successfully supervised mining of 1,200m of advance per month
- Intricate knowledge of modern Jumbo development operations
- Strong knowledge of underground mining techniques, equipment, and safety practices
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining a variety of diamond drilling rigs suitable for underground mining
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Mining certifications and licenses as required by relevant legislation
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate underground mining operations, including drilling, blasting, hauling, and ventilation
- Supervise and provide guidance to mining crews, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operating procedures
- Collaborate with mine planners and engineers to develop production plans and achieve production targets
- Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to maximize productivity
- Monitor mining performance and adjust operations as needed to optimize efficiency and meet production goals
- Implement and enforce safety measures and promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability
- Conduct regular inspections of underground workings, equipment, and ventilation systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and identifying maintenance needs
- Investigate and address operational issues, utilizing problem-solving skills and coordinating with relevant stakeholders
- Provide leadership and support to mining teams, fostering teamwork and professional development
- Prepare reports on production, safety, and maintenance activities, reporting to management and stakeholders as required
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with our Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health rules and procedures
