The Role
Reporting into the Head of Digital Platforms, the Engineering Manager (Digital Application Support) role is a newly created role as we continue to review and realign our delivery and application support model.
Assigned to the Stability and Efficiency delivery stream, the Engineering Manager is responsible for delivering and maintaining the stability of our digital and customer-facing applications. A critical role within the Technology Leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled and technical Software Engineers to continually improve and deliver value to our Retail and Group customers. Aspects of this role also includes:
- Incident and defect remediation
- Environment management for digital applications
- Observability and monitoring uplift
- Vendor engagement for support escalation
Lastly, you will provide hands-on architectural and engineering guidance for the team, ensuring there is a cohesive architecture and engineering best practice and standards.
About you
You are an experienced Leader with a minimum of 10+ years of experience with a focused background in application support or in a similar capacity. You have a proven track record of success in leading people and delivering commercial outcomes.
Whilst you enjoy leading the team and participating at a strategic level, you are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and be on the tools when necessary. You play a hands-on approach and involvement in leading your team to set high engineering standards in the work they do.
You are familiar with working in an agile enterprise environment and/or in a value stream-based organisation, working and delivering in tribes.
Lastly, your all-rounded experience enables you to understand agile methods applied at scale and delivering in a DevOps environment.
