The Underwriting ManagerWorkers Compensation, Engineering & Fleet role combines the execution of expert underwriting with market leading business development for commercial and consumer products in the Intermediated marketplace. The role develops and delivers a cohesive state business plan and service/value proposition to our intermediaries through the execution of the national product. This role leads an aligned state based Underwriting function responsible for the expert execution of the individual product function that builds and strengthens broker relationships to ensure a seamless experience for our intermediaries and mutual clients.to drive profitable growth and increase market share.
The role will work closely with both Practice Leaders, Commercial Portfolio and Strategic Relationship Managers to ensure alignment with the respective national strategies. At the same time the role ensures an operating environment that grows leadership capability, encourages learning and development and operates with a strong foundational underpinning of risk, compliance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities will include (not limited to):
- Underwrite new and renewal business within the scope of individual Delegated Underwriting Authority to achieve the strategic and financial goals of the Commercial Portfolio strategy
- Conduct renewal reviews to ensure business is re-underwritten in alignment with current underwriting, selection and pricing guidelines and implement corrective or remedial actions when appropriate
- Underwrite new business in alignment with current underwriting, selection and pricing guidelines
- Monitor ongoing policy performance to identify opportunities for remedial or corrective underwriting
- Underwrite using approved tools and in complete alignment with agreed underwriting processes and guidelines.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Commercial experience in Insurance
- Demonstrated knowledge of underwriting practices and policies
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Intermediated Insurance market
- Tier 1 and 2 Insurance Broking Operations - Highly regarded
- Ability to identify potential risk specific exposures and risk management issues and communicates these points to the broker.
