Service Stream’s Telecommunications division are currently seeking a team member who can demonstrate and complete complex Fibre fault diagnostic and rectification. The role, Unify Networks Fibre technician will require competent OTDR skills/ ribbon splicing/hauling and some minor CIVIL works to be successful and join our Unify Networks team.
Reporting directly to the Regional Programs Manager, you will be responsible for Fault locating & rectification using OTDR/Traffic meters and fibre splicing techniques on critical network outages which could be FTTP or FTTC topology to meet SLA set within the scope.
The successful applicant will have a firm understanding of the NBN fibre topology, the ability use & operate diagnostic tools to identify direct cause of outages, with solution-based outcomes to restore.
Based in Brisbane, and offered on a Permanent, Full-Time basis, this position offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Adherence to ALL company policies and procedures
- Carry out site inspections prior to work commencing works to ensure safe to do so.
- Fault diagnostic and restoration, ability to use OTDR/Filters and light meters to locate and repair, including aerial works.
- Determining fault location with OTDR and recording updates in API based systems.
- Fibre testing/splicing and rectification of damage to bring services/nodes online
- Update appropriate systems with project completion data pack where required.
- Act as the first or second member of a two-person team working in defined confined spaces or larger jobs.
- May be required to assist and guide the on-the-job training and job familiarisation of staff other than those directly led.
- Perform other duties as required, which may include activities normally carried out at other levels including hauling and minor civil works.
- Role will require some rural travel and overnight stays to complete work orders as required.
- Role will require in some instance Late night outages & working in isolation.
- Assisting supervisors to pre-scope/haul/prep CRQ outages

About You
To be successful in this role, will also demonstrate and possess the following:
- Fundamental understanding of OTDR and diagnostic for fault finding within FTTC & FTTP topology, essential.
- Power awareness certification ideal, but no essential
- Previous experience in Ribbon Fibre/NBN Networks and Telecommunications
- Regulatory certification as required.
- Certifications in Telecommunications
- Industry accreditations within the telecommunications Industry
- Current driver’s licence
- Proven track record of experience
