About Mental Health at Monash
Monash Health provides Mental Health services across all ages and across a wide geographical area of south-east Melbourne. The service is divided into 6 clinical `units' each operating integrated inpatient and community services. The Units comprise Early in Life Mental Health Service, Young Person's Mental Health Service, Casey Adult, Dandenong Adult, Monash (Clayton) Adult, and Aged Mental Health Services. This position is the Unit Director (Clinical Director) responsible for adult services in the Dandenong area, comprising inpatient, community, and community residential and rehabilitation services.
Monash prides itself in running a large and high quality training program in psychiatry, as well as clinical training placements for psychology, allied health and Mental Health nursing. We strive to deliver good outcomes for our patients and families.
In the context of the recent interim recent report of the Royal Commission into the Victorian Mental Health System, the Mental Health sector is in exciting times. About the Role
Reporting to the Service Director, Adult and Older Adult, the position has responsibility for the effective management and leadership of the General Adult Psychiatry Unit at Dandenong and, together with the other Unit Directors, Service Directors and Program Director, for clinical governance within the Mental Health Program such that the provision of services across Monash Health is consistent with our Strategic and Clinical Services plans.
As a member of the Monash Health Senior Management Team the appointee will provide leadership in achieving and upholding Monash Health's Vision, Purpose and Values.
This position provides the clinical, professional and academic leadership to General Adult Psychiatry required to make Monash Health a learning institution and to deliver excellent clinical care to patients. The appointment is with Monash Health (Unit Director), within the Mental Health Program, but the appointee will be expected to have or apply for an adjunct appointment (at Professor, Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer level, as appropriate) with the Monash University Department of Psychiatry to support the teaching and research components of the role.

You will be a leader with a passion for Mental Health and an ability to inspire professional colleagues and lead transformational change.
What you need
- Specialist qualification as a psychiatrist with AHPRA registration
- Experience as a clinician as well as being a manager and a leader in public Mental Health
- Experience in teaching and research
