The Role
Make a difference in our community!

We have an exciting opportunity in this newly envisioned role, Unit Manager Healthy & Inclusive Communities to join the Community Strengthening department.

This role oversees three exciting teams:

  • Healthy Communities: a team of 6 Equity, Health and Social Planning professionals that work across a range of portfolios to strengthen health, wellbeing, and inclusion in the City of Whittlesea, including disability, housing and homelessness, community safety, gambling harm minimisation, LGBTIQA+, multiculturalism and gender equity to name a few.
  • Services Hubs: a small but impactful team of 3 who manager the Epping Community Services Hub which is a thriving facility that houses a range of community services hubs to support residents to have place-based access to services and support.
  • HACC PYP: a team of 3 that are responsible for the delivery of the DFFH funded Hume and Community Care Program for Younger People.

The Unit Manager oversees a team that work collaboratively to develop collaboratively the MPHWP and DAP within Council’s contemporary Integrated Planning Framework as well as developing and delivering a suite of responses, activities, campaigns, and initiatives to support community strengthening initiatives. 

About you
Along with a strong passion for community services, you will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Community Services, Community Development, Public Policy, Health or Equity Planning or relevant discipline required, or an equivalent level of relevant experience and / or study.
  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, and maybe even experience in working in service delivery within a legislated framework (desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with internal and external partners.
  • A commitment to innovation and finding new ways of working and providing positive community impact,
  • Strong people leadership skills and the ability to champion change and build capability.
