The University Health Service provides a comprehensive Health Service to all students and staff at UNSW, Kensington.
The service provides 200-250 consultations daily and is open Monday to Friday. There are 11 consulting rooms and a well-equipped treatment room. There are 17 GP’s who work varying hours, 3 full time equivalent nurses, and a full time mental health nurse. We have 2 in house psychiatrists who work 1 day a week each providing timely access and a bulk billing service for students with significant mental health needs.
We have an excellent practice manager and 3 full time equivalent administration assistants. We work closely with the UNSW Psychology and Wellness counselling department who are located in the same building.
The successful GP candidate will be employed as a contractor with flexible work hours, full time or part time available.
We are a mixed billing practice. The GP will pay a 15% service fee on total billings. Students are bulk billed and staff and the community are charged a private fee.
Expressions of interest are being sought from suitably qualified GP’s with a:
1. Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, and appropriate Specialist Qualifications.
2. Current unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a General Practitioner
3. Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRACGP)
4. Current living and working rights in Australia.
5. Current clinical practice of a high standard. Experience working with young adults an advantage but not a compulsory requirement.
6. Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and working within Work Health & Safety principles
7. Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development since attaining specialist qualification consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
8. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other Health Services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
9. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family and carers as appropriate, colleagues and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team.
