Urban Economist

Join a team of economists, planners, analysts, demographers, and economic development specialists, and contribute technical expertise to inform and resolve complex problems. 

Your role is to model and analyse the economic impacts of projects and investments – to understand the likely implications for the economy of the area/region. They will provide valuable inputs into business cases, cost-benefit analysis, development applications assessment and strategic land-use planning.

We are looking for candidates with technical skills in interpreting macroeconomic and demographic measures that are relevant to urban economics. Someone with experience dealing with large data sets – on land use, housing, or transport data. While technical understanding is important, we are not necessarily looking for a modeller, rather candidates with strong writing and presentation skills.

We are looking for candidates in mid-senior level – so someone with 4+ years’ experience. It would suit an Economist with experience working in an urban planning or advisory firm and/or an Urban Planner with economics background. We would also regard candidates with experience working with complex problems. 

Office location is in Bendigo and Gold Coast – but open to remote working arrangements for the right candidate. Salary up to $110k.
