About the role
Are you ready to be part of a vibrant and collaborative team, shaping impactful projects across Victoria? We're looking for an Urban Planner to ensure the success of Development Victoria’s urban renewal initiatives.
Core responsibilities
- Provide essential input and advice to support the strategic direction of our development divisions.
- Conduct thorough assessments during due diligence processes for potential projects, contributing to feasibility studies and Investment Committee reports.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements by conducting detailed planning assessments for project proposals.
- Assist in the preparation of Expressions of Interest (EOI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation, and contribute to bid assessment activities.
- Prepare planning briefs for developers and stakeholders, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Offer guidance on planning consultant selection, prepare consultant briefs, and oversee consultant services as needed.
- Take the lead in drafting planning conditions for permits, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
- Participate in discussions and forums to promote best planning practices, collaborating with various stakeholders including Councils, State Government, agencies, consultants, and private industry.
About you
- Minimum of a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Urban Planning.
- Detailed knowledge and/or experience of working with the Victorian Planning Provisions in providing both strategic and statutory planning advice, evaluation and assessment of planning schemes, master plans, planning documents and other matters pertaining to large-scale mixed use developments, affordable housing projects and best practice environmental sustainability would be advantageous.
- Experience working in the public or private sector providing expert advice, evaluation and assessments on planning and urban design issues.
- Experience working in a complex multidisciplinary team to deliver large urban scale development projects.
- Experience preparing briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
- Strong applied research and analytical skills
