The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Utility Surveyor to join our growing team in Sydney. As a key member, you will have the opportunity to work on an expanding portfolio of exciting and technically challenging projects. The role is full-time from Monday to Friday, with the occasional weekend, nightshift and regional work required.

About the Role 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Accurately locate, identify and mark all underground utilities,
  • Complete utility surveys in an efficient, safe and professional manner, and in accordance with company procedures,
  • Provide accurate field data to Utility Mapping standard for the modelling team to produce final deliverables,
  • Collect, record and manage utility data to meet project requirements,
  • Process utility survey data into 2D or 3D deliverables as required,
  • Interpret utility information plans,
  • Work with surveying and locating equipment including using robotic total station, RTK GNSS, standard hand held pipe and cable locating equipment and ground penetrating radar (GPR) to facilitate surveying and locating the utilities,
  • Manage workflow and assignment of projects, including preparation of DBYD information, field notes, pre-calculations and third-party survey data,
  • Ensure that all deliverables are reviewed and approved prior to delivery to the client,
  • Manage the day-to-day client relationships to ensure that the client’s needs are met,
  • Train and mentor field team members.

Must haves: 

  • Previous experience undertaking utility surveys using of GPR (ground penetrating radar) systems, EMF (electromagnetic frequency) detectors and survey equipment,
  • Advanced knowledge of Trimble and Leica survey equipment,
  • Knowledge of recording utility networks and assets,
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD deliverables,
  • Proficiency in remote access to digital devices and technology,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Valid driver's licence.

Good to have: 

  • Diploma or degree in Surveying or related geospatial discipline,
  •  Industry qualifications in utility locating;

     - Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) Certified Locator

     - NULCA Accredited Certification

  • Exposure to 12d software,
  • AutoCAD, Briscad, Revit, NavisWorks, interactive PDF skills,
  • Project Management or site supervision.

The role is physically demanding and involves manual handling, including operation of equipment. For this reason, you may be required to complete a pre-employment medical.
