Leadership Team Members bring their wealth of knowledge and wisdom to regular meetings to provide advice to their Corps Officers. Often connected to the corps for much longer periods than corps officers, sometimes decades, the Leadership Team hold local corps history and knowledge of the church community. Therefore, Leadership Team Members’ experience and insight is integral in key decisions and future developments, as well as day to day operations, spiritual life and fellowship of the Corps.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Leadership: Regularly attend Corps Council / Leadership meetings to assist in decision-making of corps operations such as budgeting, fundraising and property matters.
Administration: Record minutes of each meeting and make these available for Divisional audits and reporting.
Support corps spiritual life: Provide guidance and assistance with evangelical outreach and soul-saving endeavours, and the involvement in such of soldiers, recruits and converts. Identify reasons for any lack of, or special increase in, soul-winning, with special attention given to the proportion of seekers made into soldiers, losses of soldiers and recruits.
Support worship: Prepare and deliver Biblically-sound worship services and prayer when required.
Support corps programs: Assist with regular and special events and provide suggestions for new and unique initiatives to increase the prosperity of the Corps. Contribute to projects by fulfilling and reporting on specific tasks and actions within timeframes.
Qualifications and skills (desired/required)
Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating corps ministries
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team
Effective planning, coordination and organisational skills
Attends worship on a regular basis, or linked to community through ministry
Capabilities and personal attributes
Demonstrate Spiritual Maturity: Recognises and uses spiritual gifts and abilities; uses Scripture, reason, tradition and experience to discern God’s wisdom for action; displays trust in God’s goodness and faithfulness in both ordinary and stressful circumstances; actions are motivated and guided by the gospel imperative to courageous love.

Leading Faith Communities: Inspires others through Christ-like behaviours and attitudes; provides authentic feedback or counsel to others with grace and truthfulness; presents publicly in a positive and engaging manner; leads others in seeking God’s wisdom; provides pastoral care in the face of grief, loss and critical incidents; develops others to grow disciples.
Act Ethically and with Integrity: Is reliable and trustworthy; recognises and speaks out against misconduct, unethical and inappropriate behaviour, including conflicts of interest; sets an example for others to follow and identify and explain ethical issues.
Show Respect: Recognises and respects differences in culture, style and viewpoint; promotes inclusive and culturally appropriate practices; actively and calmly works to solve problems and resolve conflicts.
Background check requirements
Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies. Below is what is required for this role:
As this role is a leadership position in a corps, it is considered a child-related role and therefore requires a Working with Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People Check
As this role has a higher level of responsibility and involves dealing with confidential information, it requires a Police Check
Background checks requirements may change time to time if legislations or TSA requirements change.
Development opportunities with this role
This role will give Leadership Team Members opportunity to apply spiritual and practical guidance to the operational aspects of running a corps, to be a model and inspiration to soldiers and corps members, to be a key contributor to the continued and growing prosperity of the corps.
Time Required & Commitment
Ideally, Corps Leadership Team Members would be available on a regular basis to provide reliable and consistent oversight of the corps and contact with the corps community.
