Job description

Wanted: An experienced Valuer who wants to use their expert valuations knowledge and contribute to maintaining valuation standards and compliance with the Valuation of Land Act 1978.

About the role

This role is responsible for undertaking research, reporting and regulation activities in accordance with relevant standards, the Valuation of Land Act 1978 and other business function requirements, and providing advice and support to the Valuer-General and General Manager of Valuation Services.

More specifically, this role provides information and commentary to ensure Valuation Services meets corporate reporting obligations including for the monthly, quarterly and annual reports, Outcome Based Management goals for Treasury reporting, Indian Ocean Territories reporting and  forward estimates for Treasury. It also gathers and provides information for audits and monitors audit findings / actions to ensure they are completed.

In addition, this role will work closely with the Valuer General to develop the Regulation Plan for each valuation program, reviewing and measuring KPI’s at the completion of each program to determine whether the program was compliant with the regulation plan. It will also be responsible for providing complex property market and valuation statistical analyses to the Valuer-General, including collaborating on the VG’s annual update, and to internal and external clients.

Role Requirements

To be successful in this role, please demonstrate:

  • Possess a degree as prescribed by Regulation 8(1) of the Land Valuers Licensing Regulations 1979 or an equivalent degree as approved by the Executive Director of Labour Relations; and a license in accordance with Section 19 of the Land Valuers Licensing Act 1978.
  • Demonstrated understanding of valuation principles and practices, and the capacity to apply these to property valuations, as well as significant professional valuation experience including complex valuations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, influence, inspire, motivate and work with others to make a difference.
  • Experience in a regulated environment.
