Lions Outback Vision (LOV) is part of the Perth based Lions Eye Institute. We are a small but dedicated team of eye health professionals that are firmly committed to improving the eye health of rural, remote and Indigenous West Australians. We believe that all Australians should be able to access comprehensive and appropriate eye health care services irrespective of where they may live.
The Lions Outback Vision Van is a state of the art, mobile eye health clinic that takes eye health specialists and equipment to the regional residents of Western Australia from Albany in the South to Port Hedland in the North. The van visits 23 communities with a rostered schedule each year.
LOV is seeking an experienced HC licenced operator to join the team driving the vision van on its circuits. We work in a fast paced environment which requires flexibility, reliability and effective communication and teamwork. We are seeking individuals that display professionalism and can foster the LEI values of Integrity, Care, Curiosity, Impact and Unity .
The Role
In this exciting role you will have the opportunity to work in diverse environments and will be responsible for the safe and efficient driving of the vision van to each location according to schedule approximately (O.6 FTE), ensuring safe parking, set-up and close-up of the van for clinics, vehicle monitoring and maintenance, cleaning and stocktaking. The role may include some patient transport support in smaller communities and driving LOV staff to complete satellite outreach clinics in a 4 WD.
The role also coordinates the completion of service tasks during service breaks in Perth and is available to assist in resolution of mechanical or functional issues by phone if required (approximately 0.4 FTE).
Essential Experience:
- Relevant experience driving in regional settings.
- Worked with or around heavy machinery and equipment, including generators.
- Be fit and have a keen interest in working in a unique and varied role
- Understanding of and adherence to safe operating procedures and Regulations applicable to Heavy Vehicle Drivers
Requirements:
- Hold a current HC license & WA Driving Licence without impediments
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Compliance with health and safety procedures
- Willing to work an adaptable roster in a shared role
- Be available to work away from home for lengthy periods of time as negotiated
