Vegetable Grower

The Position:

We are currently searching for an experienced Vegetable Grower to join our team. This is a hands-on role within our business and involves planning, coordinating and performing farming operations to grow crops. The Vegetable Grower will work under the direction of the Senior Farm Manager to plan the overall growing operations. The Vegetable Grower may also help manage a small planting/ harvesting team to ensure that all operations are effective, sustainable, and undertaken efficiently.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

•         Coordinating staff to meet production requirements.
•         Managing growing duties, ground preparation, seeding, irrigation scheduling and other associated duties.
•          Solving day to day issues with crops and reporting any defects or diseases.
•         Ensuring that the farm meets current goals and assist in further developing the farm.
•          Making recommendations on capital equipment and suggest areas of improvement based on daily practice.
•         Managing daily staff issues and delegating responsibility, supervising the execution of the work and suggesting corrections where necessary.

•         Sound knowledge of Agronomy, preferably with some experience in plant nutrition, pest and weed control.
•          Demonstrated hands on experience in leadership and day to day supervision of a small team.
•          Familiarity with Quality Assurance and HACCP.
•         Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
•          A sound knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of various farming equipment.
•         Confidence to perform all activities as independently as possible.
•          Ability to meet timelines and manage workloads.
•          Attention to detail, structured and well organised.

Remuneration:

Annual Salary: $70,000.00- $80,000.00 (based on experience).
