The Regulation Directorate is responsible for driving the Government’s regulation and policy initiatives and ensuring appropriate compliance, behaviour and safe access across our transport networks.The Vehicle Operations Section undertakes varying functions that contribute to this important work including vehicle inspections, vehicle engineering services and standards, delivery of the Vehicle Identity Assessment Station (VIDAS) and Accident Towing.Our Vehicle Inspectors are responsible for undertaking and overseeing detailed vehicle inspections on heavy and light vehicles and buses, and the auditing of mandatory maintenance schedules and other accreditation systems. This includes providing technical advice to various government agencies, clients regarding identified vehicle deficiencies and coordinating inspections at regional locations.Vehicle Inspectors ensure vehicles meet legislated standards, Design Rules and Codes of Practice.The successful candidate will hold qualifications as a Light or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or possess any other professional mechanical qualification with relevant vehicular experience. Prior to employment with the Department, the successful candidate will be required to provide:
- A National Police Check (NPC) which is required to be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Qualified Light or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or any other professional mechanical qualification with appropriate vehicular experience.Recent vehicle repair industry experience and knowledge of complex vehicle systems and evolving technologies.Tenure of Vacancy
