Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of 8 years of Industry experience in Software Engineering
Highly Desirable Experience

• Develop and maintain Linux Standard Operating Environment (SOE) images.
• Linux-based operating system hardening, automating, scripting, and virtualising.

Highly Desirable Qualifications (any)

• Bachelor’s degree (4 years or higher postgraduate) in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Software Engineering) suitable to achieve membership of the Institution of Engineers or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree (3 years or higher postgraduate) in IT or Computer Science suitable to achieve technologist in the Institution of Engineers or equivalent.
• Extensive experience (over 10 years) with design, build, and test functions of C4I Military Systems, Networks, and associated Software.

Desirable qualifications and experience

• Extensive experience (greater than 10 years) in integration engineering. Preferably this experience will be with ICT oriented systems and include a detailed understanding of software development.
• Broad experience (greater than 10 years) in the design, implementation, support, and administration (with RHEL) of Linux-based Standard Operating Environments, preferably in a department environment.
• Experience in design and documentation development to Department's standards as well as build, implement and support of software products.
• Experience with Azure DEVOPS and Azure Pipelines.
• Qualified RHCE or RHCSA.
• Experience in computing, telecommunications including protocols, and data storage systems and standards.
• Understanding of the Capability Lifecycle or CLC
• Providing strategic, high-level advice to senior technical and executive staff on technical, design, and risk management items, (including escalation as appropriate.
• Experience in maintaining and operating engineering design and systems competence and operations
• Knowledge of National WHS legislative requirements and Military Safety policies & standards including their applicability to Safety, Risk and Hazard management
• Demonstrated evidence of working within, and leading, multi-discipline teams
• High order organisational, oral, and written communications skills, stakeholder management skills (internal and cross-organisation)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Ability to provide technical oversight and advice on multiple projects.
• Ability to establish and manage executable key technical and engineering artefacts.
• Highly self-motivated, driven, and passionate about the success of military technology programs
• Approaches decision making in a principled, constructive, logical, and rational manner (or desire to operate this way).
