Job description

About the role

We're on the lookout for energetic individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, who enjoy a varied case load. Immerse yourself in the role that places you at the core of a dynamic team, where passion, expertise, and teamwork change the lives of animals daily. This isn’t just a job; it’s your next adventure in veterinary care!

  • Help to ensure good welfare outcomes are achieved for each and every patient.
  • Ensure the values of the RSPCA QLD are upheld amongst domestic veterinarians, veterinary nurses and clinic assistants.
  • Participate in approved research projects as directed by the head scientist.
  • Regularly attend domestic veterinary team and general staff meetings.
  • Attend RSPCA events including Community activation days and fundraising days.

Who are we looking for?

  • A BVSc, DVM or equivalent is required.
  • Required 5+ years' experience.
  • Previous welfare experience is an asset but not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well & multi-task under pressure in a high-volume, busy hospital environment.
  • Maintain appropriate certificates as required to continuing professional development.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written).
  • Excellent relationship building skills within your team and across departments.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including high attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks within a busy work schedule.
  • Ability to establish solutions for complex problems whilst working autonomously and collaborating as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Genuine interest in animal welfare and the objectives of RSPCA Qld.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including manual handling, and an ability to handle a minimum weight of 10 kilos.

Part time (30.4hrs per week) based at our Wacol Animal Care Campus with opportunities to work across other RSPCA Queensland shelters. The hospital operates from 7am-8pm, 7 days a week and will require the successful candidate to work a mix of day and evening shifts with regular weekend work.
