Vice President - Principal Investment Fund - Sydney

Principal Investment Fund managing a sizeable pool of capital across PE, Equities, Credit, Fixed Income and Real Estate

Collins Executive Recruitment is exclusively working with an established and highly reputable Principal Investment Fund in Sydney. They manage several billion dollars and invest across a diverse range of asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, equities, real estate & credit.
Due to growth, they are seeking an experienced investment professional to join their investment team to manage a portfolio of investments across credit and equities. The person will be responsible for the origination and the execution of investments. This role requires a deep understanding across the capital spectrum from senior debt, junior debt, hybrids and equity.
This role will involve structuring investments and requires an extensive understanding of credit instruments used in global credit markets, including structures currently used in offshore markets that are not widely used in Australia.
The candidate will identify opportunities arising due to corporate distress, insolvency and restructuring globally.
In addition to an understanding of Australian insolvency laws – knowledge and experience of insolvency laws of overseas jurisdiction such as UK and US will be required.
Upon successful hire, you will:

• Deal Origination: Identify, source, and evaluate potential corporate credit investment opportunities within the Australian market. This includes assisting in developing investment strategies based on the market environment
• Credit Structuring: Assist in the developing and structuring complex credit deals with respect to financial viability and the credit assessment
• Due Diligence: Leading due diligence efforts, including financial analysis, legal review and market research
• Restructuring: Leading ad hoc groups and participating in steering committees
• Deal Execution: Oversee the end-to-end deal execution process, including negotiation of terms, legal documentation, and coordinating with various stakeholders
• Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of the existing portfolio, assess the need for refinancing, and take necessary actions to maximize returns while minimizing risks.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
• Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and underwriting principles.
• Minimum of 7 years of buy-side experience in corporate credit with a strong background and track record in structuring and executing complex credit transactions, including involving non-performing loans and corporate restructuring
• Experience in a credit trading desk or hedge fund with a focus across the capital structure will be well-regarded
• Extensive knowledge of global corporate credit markets, including UK, USA and EU.
• Knowledge and experience with restructuring and insolvency laws across different jurisdictions such as Australia (e.g. DOCA), UK (schemes) and US (e.g. Chapter 11).Strong financial modelling and analysis skills.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
