We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vineyard hand / Grounds person for our Gapsted Estate vineyard and property. This is a hands-on role and as such you will need to be proactive, adaptable and well organised. 

About the Role

This outdoor and hands on role involves all aspects of vineyard maintenance, some machinery operation, including general care of all grounds and facilities and day to day property and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform various tractor operations, including spraying, slashing, hedging and under-vine weeding
• Pruning, shoot and fruit thinning, wire lifting, training of young vines and other seasonal activities
• Assist with vineyard development propagation, planting, grafting and infrastructure establishment
• Collaborate with external contractors for specialised vineyard services and equipment
• Gardening duties such as mowing, planting, pruning, edging, reticulation maintenance, and weed control
• Keeping all roads, pathways clean and free from rubbish and other debris
• General tool maintenance
• Apply chemicals in a safe manner in accordance with manufacturer's directions and keep records of their use

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

• An energetic and positive approach to work
• Be able to work independently and be self-motivated
• Forklift licence or previous tractor driving experience is an advantage but not essential
• Current drivers licence and own transport are essential
• Excellent communication
• A willingness to learn and take direction
• Proven experience in vineyard operation and ground maintenance
