Lowther Hall is an inclusive school for girls from Kindergarten to Year 12, committed to excellence for all. Situated in Essendon, it is the only Anglican independent school for girls in the area. The School has a maximum enrolment of 900, a size which enables each girl to be known as an individual. Lowther Hall is a learning community in which staff and students work together to achieve the shared goal of educating the whole girl for the whole of life.

POSITION BRIEF 
The successful applicant should be a dynamic music educator, leader and an outstanding musician with a proven record of excellence in teaching and performance and who is committed to our school’s mission of educating the whole person for the whole of life. They will be committed to their own learning and professional development. Passionate about their field, they will demonstrate the ability to build a culture of success in and enjoyment of their instrument by students and to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates who address the Selection Criteria are eligible for shortlisting.

Applicants should provide a statement of no more than 300 words which outlines the ways in which they fulfil the following criteria:

1. Appropriate qualification in music
2. Experience in, and a demonstrated passion for teaching Violin
3. Experience in and knowledge of AMEB and VCE syllabus and repertoire
4. Experience performing and teaching a wide range of repertoire
5. A genuine commitment to their own learning 
6. A proven record as an outstanding Violin teacher / teacher candidate
7. Success in fostering in girls a love of learning and a commitment to excellence
8. A proven ability to develop productive relationships with students, staff and parents 
9. Excellent organisational, administrative and presentation skills 
10. An understanding of the Lowther Hall context and requirements for ensuring child safety

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Current Working with Children Check or VIT registration 
2. Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certificate – with a commitment to on-going training 
3. Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Record Check upon appointment 
4. Current anaphylaxis management qualification
5. Current asthma management qualification
