About the Role

The Visiting Teacher works within the multidisciplinary team at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in the Pilbara to support the educational, medical and psychosocial needs of students and serve as a link between Health and Education.

The main objective of the role is to consolidate and develop health and education partnerships, by improving communication and collaboration between CAMHS and schools in the Pilbara Region. The successful applicant will ideally possess a breadth of curriculum knowledge and sound understanding of education systems. You should be able to provide comprehensive information and develop strategies to assist schools to enhance outcomes for referred students. Working collaboratively with others and being open to their opinions and perspectives is highly desirable to ensure that as a team we meet school and vulnerable student needs.

About the community

Port Hedland is a dynamic town in Western Australia’s beautiful Northwest located approximately 1,800km north of Perth. We are home to around 16,000 people from diverse cultural backgrounds and cover 11,844 square kilometres of the Pilbara region. Our original inhabitants, the Kariyarra people, call the place Marapikurrinya for the hand shaped formation of the tidal creeks coming off the natural harbour.

The lifestyle is relaxed and our location on the ocean provides for a variety of leisure activities. Our two main residential centres, Port and South Hedland, offer a range of community services including cultural, recreation and shopping facilities
