Country ArtsSA is seeking a Visual Art Coordinator to work as part of a smallteam who deliver a Statewide Visual Arts program which servicesregional artists, audiences, and communities. The position will beresponsible for coordinating the touring exhibitionsprogram.
Thisimportant and dynamic position requires excellent interpersonalskills, sufficient technical expertise related to the Visual Artsfield, experience in exhibition delivery, and a desire toparticipate in all aspects of the Visual Arts program deliveryincluding administration, tour logistics, marketing and evaluationsand reporting.
The role isfull time or part time (0.8 FTE) may be negotiated.
Aboutthe Role
Reporting tothe Visual Arts Manager will be responsible for coordinating thetouring exhibitions program.
The role hasadministrative focus and will work primarily on coordinating adiverse touring exhibitions program, delivery of the Grindells Hutresidency, and providing administrative support to the Visual ArtsManager across new commissions and professional developmentprograms. The role works directly with artists, regional gallerystaff, metropolitan arts organisations and community groups toensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a highcreative standard, upholding best practice approaches.
Some dutieswill include:
- Preparing artworks for travel, storage and display using best practice art handling and packing procedures, inclusive of crate manuals, installation guides and condition reports
- Assist the Visual Arts Manager to capture and communicate the visual arts program through evaluations and statistical reporting
- Contribute to achieving the Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan
Aboutyou
- You will have demonstrated experience within the Visual Arts sector working in an arts administration or project delivery role with experience working across exhibtion delivery. You have excellent attention to detail, with the ability to map out project timelines, track deliverables, collate inbound materials and maintain thorough records.
- You have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working directly with artists and external peers in the Visual Arts with the ability to communicate its concepts, processes and materials to audiences and internal and external stakeholders. You have experience handling artworks and can coordinate and execute the installation of exhibitions in line with artist and curator vision.
- The role is well suited to a detailed oriented person with proven ability to manage competing tasks, prioritise timelines, problem solve and work flexibly and who has knowledge of the Visual Arts sector and an understanding of standard coventions and best practice across artwork handling, packing and storage.
Essential: Must hold a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
Specialconditions: Occasional out of hours work and regularintrastate travel will be required.
