About The Role:

This position provides specialist vocational assessment services resulting in the development of a learning plan and learning plan review using methodology and templates provided by Corrections Victoria.

We are excited about you because you have:

  • Sound understanding and experience of working with adults to define and refine vocational goals and pathways
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent administrative skills with demonstrated high level of ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and data base experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent organisational and office skills ensuring quality products and services.
  • Proven ability to think clearly in unpredictable situations using logic in the decision making process and using initiative, as required.
  • Sound knowledge and broad experience of working in TAFE and/or an educational teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and solve problems using tact and flexibility whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Interrogate and use Corrections Victoria database outputs to prioritise and identify candidates;
  • Use Corrections Victoria templates;
  • Interview, assess, complete documentation, report and upload learning plans within specified timeframes;
  • Identify appropriate vocational and learning goals and pathways;
  • Ensure Language, Literacy and Numeracy test results are included and discussed;
  • Include recommendations for General Skills Development, Advanced Skills Development, Distance Education and employment-related goals;
  • Respond to student queries in relation to career and vocational objectives;
  • Encourage candidates to enrol and participate in courses to maximise the acquisition of new skills and knowledge;
  • Encourage related prison employment opportunities to maximise the acquisition of skills relevant to the candidate's goals.
  • Have a strong understanding of student learning pathways and the Australian education system;
  • Understand restrictions to employment opportunities relevant to the candidate's criminal history;
  • Be culturally competent;
  • Work in custodial settings;
  • Have strategies, techniques and sufficient understanding of the barriers to learning and/or employment in the correctional setting and in the community including but not limited to, past negative education experiences, physical and mental health, financial, and others, to provide advice that is relevant and goals that are achievable.
