Job Description
This role requires for an experienced Voice Networking engineer, especially VoIP for a Service Provider, and passionate about great products, built on well implemented designs. As a member of our Network Reliability Engineering team (alongside data network & systems engineers), you will be responsible for the engineering support of Voice Networks & systems across Symbio.
This is a hands-on role as you will work collaboratively within your team and with other Operations, Delivery, System, Software and Network teams in delivering systems and services as well as ensuring we understand the health of our systems at any point in time to reduce outages.
You will be focused on serving our customers, ensuring we deliver quality, reliability, and security through the application of Network Reliability Engineering principles – “codify, automate, test, monitor, measure”.
As part of this role, you may be required to participate in an after-hours change management and on-call roster.
Qualifications
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Computer Science / Engineering related degree.
  • Several years’ experience in a voice engineering role in a Telco/ISP/Large enterprise.
  • VoIP technologies including Session Border Controllers (SBC), VoIP principles, protocols and codecs
  • Signaling Systems and platforms to include Soft switch, IMGs, C7/SS7, ISDN PRI
  • Technical knowledge of network architecture and internet protocols.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of information processing principles and practices.
  • Linux System Administration (especially automation tools e.g. Ansible)
  • Programming & scripting skills (eg. Python)
  • Experience with hardware deployments is an advantage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player – good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think outside of the box and demonstrate strong problem solving skills.
