About the Museum
Housed in one of Australia's most prominent national heritage listed buildings, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House was the first museum in Australia dedicated to telling the story of the journey of our democracy. It seeks to provide a range of innovative exhibitions, tours, interpretation, education programs and public activities that will inspire and challenge visitors to explore democracy from its ancient roots to the present day and possible futures.
About the positions
These position are responsible for overseeing various daily front of house operations including reception, events, retail and visitor experience. The role leads a team of Museum Experience Officers and Volunteers, including providing administrative support such as rosters, bookings and organising training.
The position also delivers projects to enhance the experience for museum visitors, and requires strong organisational, stakeholder engagement and IT skills.
The key duties of the position include
• Lead the team of Museum Experience Officers and Volunteers to achieve Museum Experience objectives. This includes providing daily briefings, identifying priorities, and on weekends and public holidays operating as the senior officer on site.
• Provide administrative support for the Museum Experience team, including writing daily rosters, tracking program and event bookings, arranging meetings, implementing booking and Point of Sale (POS) systems, and utilising Volunteer Management Software (VMS).
• Liaise with other Museum staff or external stakeholders on matters relating to front of house operations and related projects, including participating in or leading project teams.
• Provide wider support to the Museum Experience team and management, including rostering, record keeping and reporting of visitor statistics and feedback.
• Deliver projects that enhance visitor experience and meet Museum Experience team objectives, such as development of new programs, designing training and sourcing materials.
ROSTER
This position works 7.5 hours per day on a fixed 14-day roster pattern, including regular weekend shifts (one weekend out of two) and some public holidays. You will receive 21.5% commuted penalties in addition to your base salary each fortnight.
In addition, the successful applicant may occasionally be required to work overtime to support operations outside of their rostered hours. Penalty rates will apply for any hours worked in addition to standard hours.
