Wagon Maintainer – Heavy Railway Maintenance Workshop.

Our Valued Rail services client specialise in the manufacturing of rail products & provision of maintenance services to national rail operators. They also provide a large range of rail locomotive & wagon components to industry, & maintenance services include both facility & in field support to maximise value for the customer. The organisation supports all types of railway operations including heavy haul, freight & passenger.
They have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Wagon Maintainer to join their team on a permanent part time basis, located at their Parks, NSW Facility. The successful applicant will be required to perform examinations & provide maintenance of rail rolling stock, in accordance with established procedures & protocols thereby assuring a safe working environment with compliance with the Rail Safety & OH&S regulations both in a controlled workshop & field service environment.
Role Tasks & Duties:
The role includes but not limited to:
- Primary tasks will be to perform train arrival/departure roll by examinations to ensure integrity of rolling stock.
- Conducting full mechanical inspections of rolling stock to minimum Railways of Australia engineering standards & practices level.
- Ensuring all required documentation and certification is completed correctly and in a legible manner.
- Interface with transport company and shunting contractors during rolling stock marshalling and depot operations via radio network
- Effective communication of inspection results to company operations personnel and Workshop Supervisor
- Ensure in-house security of the workshop, workshop vehicles and equipment.
- Carry out all reasonable instruction and perform all reasonable tasks as directed by your Supervisor.
- Assist in carrying out all repairs and services to company and clients rolling stock.
- Australian Trade Diploma Certification III in Engineering-Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining).
- Practical experience & knowledge in rolling stock / railway equipment highly advantageous.
- Able to work flexible hours including overtime, shift work and weekends.
- Exposure to hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
- Sound general engineering knowledge
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Sound organisational skills
- Railway track access/rail awareness certificate
- Must be fit to perform Rail Safety Worker duties to Category 2 level.
- Passing a pre-employment medical & Australian Federal police check.
- Australian fulltime working rights.
- HRW LF Forklift License & VOC Overhead crane highly desirable.
- $42.50 Per Hour + Penalties Permanent Hourly Rate.
- Weekly Roster of Day Shift every Tues/Weds (X2 8 Hour Shifts) & Every other Sat/Sun (X2 10 Hour Shifts).
