We are seeking permanent part time and casual bank staff to work in Western Health inpatient wards and day procedure areas at Sunshine, Footscray and Williamstown campuses. Clerical responsibilities include communicating with patients, family/visitors and colleagues; entering and maintaining data; updating and maintaining patient medical records; facilitating bed allocations and patient movement throughout the organisation; as well as providing general administrative assistance such as answering phones, filing, responding to queries, etc.
There are two Ward Clerk shifts in acute and subacute wards from 7.30am to 4pm and 4pm to 9.30pm. Day procedure and specialist areas have different shifts times. The Women’s & Children’s wards require 24/7 clerical support – shifts are from 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am. Applicants are asked to identify their preferred shifts, listed above.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Ability and willingness to work at Sunshine, Footscray and/or Williamstown campuses
- Well-developed communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise duties, work under pressure, and ability to adapt and be flexible to change
Orientation and training will be provided during business hours, Monday to Friday.
Ward Clerks who are studying nursing degrees are guaranteed an interview for their graduate year. Ward Clerks are also offered the opportunity to complete a Certificate IV in Health Administration completed during work hours.
