About the Role

As a Ward Secretary, you will handle all clerical tasks within the Department, working as part of a collaborative and cooperative team. This means sharing roles and responsibilities to ensure needs are met effectively.

Your duties will include:

• Providing excellent customer service across all aspects of the Department
• Answering phones promptly, efficiently and with a friendly demeanour
• Conducting Health Fund eligibility checks to confirm patients’ eligibility for hospital stays.
• Completing preadmission and informed financial consent procedures for both day and overnight patients.

About You

Additionally, you should have:

• Previous experience in health services, especially in a hospital or with doctors and specialists is highly valued.
• Ability to complete tasks within the set timeframes.
• Capability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in using computer systems, particularly the MS Office Suite
• Experience in medical billing
• Familiarity with health funds and contract interpretations
• Flexibility to cover different shifts as required.

Desirable:

• Certificate in Medical Terminology
• Experience in hospital mainframes systems.

Remuneration: On offer is base hourly rate ranging from $30.94 - $34.49 + superannuation, exclusive of penalties or allowances
