The role:
The Ward Support Assistant:
Provides and maintains a high standard of customer focused clerical, administrative and reception services at the Hospital.
Provides effective and efficient non-nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This includes:
- Maintaining basic ward equipment and adequate stores.
- Facilitating the control of infection by maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings.

Acute Medicine and Critical Care Services Team:
We are seeking motivated and experienced applicants for the role of Ward Support Assistant to work at the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Medical Ward, North West Regional Hospital.
- AMU is a medical unit facilitating the care of eight acute patients and day cases. This fast paced, dynamic and varied environment means staff work in a collaborative team for care that is of a high quality. The team are dedicated to provide care that is respectful and patient centred. Our Ward Support Assistant is a valued member of this team, bring strengths through high interpersonal skills and organised administration to empower the facilitation of the Unit.
Details of Appointment
Part time, permanent, shift worker working 48 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
Note that this position includes weekend and public holiday day shifts.

- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $64,125 - $68,925 pro rate per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- crimes of violence
- sex related offences
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
