Viking Imports is a family owned specialty food importer, distributor and 3PL solutions provider. We supply premium products to Australia’s leading independent retailers, health food stores, specialty deli’s and major supermarket chains. Some of our best sellers are frozen wild blueberries, organic cheeses and Swedish crispbreads! Having been in operation for 30 years, the next family generation are looking to substantially ramp the business up with your help in warehouse efficiency.
The Role
A newly created role for someone who loves continuous improvement, day to day your focus will be on managing our warehouse and overseeing business operations. You will be responsible the entire order process from planning to picking/packing and fulfilment. The Warehouse Operations Manager will also be responsible for operational performance, including inventory costs, quality, compliance and creating and maintaining a safe work culture. Initially this will be a hands on role and as you implement new processes it will evolve into more of an overseeing capacity.
Overall your responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all warehouse systems, policies, processes, and procedures
- Organisation and allocation of picking and packing of all orders
- Continuous Improvement strategies in Warehouse Operations
- DIFOT
- Overseeing container and purchase order processes from start to finish
- Managing Goods receiving processes
- Managing stock-outs
- Quarterly review of costing
- Day to day people management of the warehouse team
- Processing of sales orders in our ERP
- Acting as the Warehouse Emergency Contact
- Overseeing the processing of stock adjustments and stock takes
- Costing of goods coming in
- Creation and management of the warehouse budget
- Management of the 3PL function and resources
- Toolbox Talks
- Maintaining overall safety culture
What you bring to the table
You have common sense, thrive on making things streamlined and love when things are organised.
Additionally, you will bring:
- Warehouse management experience, ideally in the food industry or in imported goods
- A drive and a thirst for improving processes
- People leadership experience and an ease in getting the best out of others
- A down to earth, problem solving, easy to get along with approach
- Excellent attention to detail
