The Adelaide Production and Treatment Alliance is a partnership with SA Water and is responsible for operating and maintaining five water treatment plants, five wastewater treatment plants, four recycled water plants and the associated water and wastewater network assets that deliver services to the Adelaide Metropolitan regions.

Our Vacancy

Reporting to the Wastewater, Reuse & Environment O&M Manager the Wastewater and Reuse Treatment Manager position is based out of Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant and is responsible for the efficient operations and maintenance of the plant in compliance with the Alliance contractual requirements. The Wastewater and Reuse Treatment Manager will lead a large team in operating and maintaining the plant.

What you will be doing:

Human Resources:

• Leadership and supervision of both direct and indirect reports.
• Develop and maintain team effectiveness through implementation of communication and team building strategies.
• Offer guidance, support, mentoring and motivation for both individuals and groups.

Operations and Maintenance:

• Operate and maintain the plants within the requirements of the contract.
• Monitor plants process and direct or make necessary adjustments.
• Develop and continually improve operational and maintenance practices/procedures.
• Drive safety, quality, productivity, innovation, and other key areas.
• Manage the Maintenance team to deliver both Preventative and Breakdown Maintenance Plans.
• Deliver specific major maintenance projects and support the delivery of minor capital works. 
• Develop and review performance reports to monitor the productivity/efficiency of plant and teams for achievement of budget targets.
• Initiate, develop, and implement improvement initiatives.

Technical Support R&D:

• Provide technical and operational support to the Alliance Innovation and Improvement group when planning, designing, commissioning, and implementing R&D initiatives relevant to Wastewater & Reuse treatment.
• Promoting new technology within Alliance and the Adelaide Services Alliance.

Financial:

• Assist in budget development and complete budget forecasts in collaboration with the Wastewater, Reuse & Environment O&M Manager.
• Review and monitor plant performance against budget and ensure the plant is operated and maintained efficiently and within the agreed budget. 
• Review and approve main supplier contracts relating to Wastewater and Reuse water to ensure optimal cost efficiency.

Client Relations:

• Provide input and reporting to the Alliance Delivery Team, the Alliance Management Team and SA Water where applicable, on process and technical issues concerning Wastewater and Reuse Treatment.
• Manage interface and negotiations with SA Water and capital works. Including scope and detail review of projects. 
• Provide operations and maintenance support for capital works projects. 
• Work closely with SA Water Project Managers to ensure all project deliverables are met while maintaining operational integrity. 

Our Desired Candidate Qualifications and Experience

• Strong leadership experience and budget management capability.
• Demonstrated capability to deliver projects or services in a water business environment or in an industrial workplace within agreed timeframes.
• Experience in maintenance activities.
• Ability to liaise with external stakeholders including SA Water, statutory authorities, government, and media.
• Proven ability to lead a large team and achieve maximum employee efficiency and engagement.
• Well-developed written and verbal skills.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

The following additional skills will be considered desirable, but not essential. All required training will be provided for the successful candidate:

• Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.
