We have a range of expertise including hydrogeology, hydrology (engineering), and a variety of aquatic sciences. We deliver expert science that supports best-practise water resource management and informed decision-making across the State. Our science enables the Department to manage resources sustainably, under the increasing pressures of climate change, population growth and industry.About the rolesWe are currently seeking candidates for leadership positions within the Water Science Division, including:

  • Supervising Engineer
  • Supervising Hydrogeologist
  • Principal Scientific Officer
  • Principal Water Planner
These leadership roles are classified as Specified Calling Level 4 (SCL4). SCL4 Officers have substantial expertise and knowledge in an area of specialisation, and responsibility for the direction of other staff. They are often experts in a particular area and provide a peak of profession representation for the Department. SCL4 Officers also use their substantial expertise and knowledge to contribute to Departmental and Government Policy. SCL4 Officers are involved in more complex, or specialised professional tasks, usually pertaining to an area of specialisation, but typically have more of a senior leadership role where they ensure that operational outcomes meet Departmental strategic objectives and have responsibility for a range of resources. These roles work collaboratively with planners, policy-makers and other disciplines to deliver water resource management outcomes.As a department we recognise that flexible working arrangements support effective work-life balance, empowers our people and increases team productivity.
