ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to apply chemistry, engineering and modelling processing principles and methodologies to:
- Understand and quantify the impact of changing bauxite properties on the refining operation
- Identify and evaluate management options
- Project manage implementation including the development of new technology options as required
This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour's drive of Collie.
key responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Experimental design, execution, data analysis and interpretation
- Process data extraction and analysis
- Process modelling to evaluate new scenarios
- Provides tactical technical support to Ops, including provision of specialist subject knowledge
- Liaise with a range of customers (internal and external) to ensure departmental objectives are met with regards to customer satisfaction
ABOUT YOU
- Min 5 years' experience in Bayer environment or a similar hydrometallurgical processing industry
- Relevant experience in plant operations, process engineering, energy systems, capital project implementation, process modelling, project economic analysis / project evaluation
- Experience in extracting and analysing complex behavioural plant data
- Project management skills - working and managing service providers
Qualifications for this position are:
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical or other Engineering) or appropriate experience
- Precipitation/calcination experience is highly desirable
