About this role
In this position as a Water/Wastewater Planner, you will be responsible for contributing to the strategic and detailed planning services for water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure for the Sydney Water Planning Partnership, and potentially in the future for other projects and clients.
This full time, permanent role aims to provide a full time co-located resource into the Planning Partnership team in Sydney Water to deliver water and wastewater planning and modelling services, with the potential to be embedded into one of the Sydney Water Planning Teams. This role would support the Sydney Water team to undertake various projects within their portfolio at the planning phase and includes working alongside staff from Arup, Aurecon and Sydney Water, with support provided from more senior team members.
The preferred candidate will bring an understanding of water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure planning principles as well as application of hydraulic modelling packages for water and wastewater networks, including sound technical knowledge of various GIS platforms. The ideal candidate for this role will also be able to demonstrate analytical thinking in application of infrastructure planning principles.
What will I do?
- With moderate guidance & support in the role's areas of responsibility, and this role may be accountable for defined parts of design projects.
- Responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of your individual work.
- Represent your team or discipline at internal meetings and potentially be responsible for organising events, activities or small internal business projects.
- Occasionally assist others with their work and ensure that deadlines are met.
What will I bring?
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering (generally civil or environmental but can be any discipline) or similar area.
- Relevant experience delivering water and/or wastewater planning projects within a consulting business environment.
- Proficiency in InfoWorks WS Pro and/or InfoWorks ICM and GIS with experience in other modelling packages highly regarded.
- Ability to apply analytical thinking in delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure planning projects.
- Ability to communicate clearly and adapt interpersonal style to connect with diverse stakeholders, fostering open dialogue and collaboration.
