As a Web Developer with Department 13, you will primarily be involved in the development and maintenance of the front-end of Department 13 web applications. You will be responsible for producing work which looks professional and provides an excellent user experience. You will be working on mission critical flagship products and your work must be reliable and high-quality.
You will also have input into the system design and architecture of other software components both on the front and back-end of the company’s suite of software products focussed on drone sensor/effector systems.
Responsibilities:
- UI/UX design of the web application front-end to our drone sensor/effector systems.
- Write, test, and debug high quality and efficient code.
- Implement new features and fix bugs.
- Participate as an active member of the software team contributing to all aspects of software development.
- Deploy and manage web applications to services like AWS.
- Liaise with other roles who form part of the Software Development Lifecycle including Business Analysts, Test Engineers, and Quality Control specialists.
- Understand Quality, Safety and Environmental principles and adherence to Department 13 processes and work instructions which relate to these matters.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience
- Australian citizen
- Ability to acquire and maintain an AGSVA security clearance (NV1 highly regarded)
Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience working as a professional Web Developer writing high-quality code in TypeScript (Angular)
- Highly developed UI/UX design skills
- Strong knowledge of Java
- HTML / CSS
- Experience in the below would be desirable but not essential
- SQL (especially MySQL)
- Docker
- AWS
- Spring / Spring Boot
- Gradle
- Linux OS skills
- Git based version control
- REST and WebSockets
- Atlassian Suite (Bitbucket, Confluence, JIRA)

The role is based in Canberra.
