Welder

  •  $79,795 p/a + super + over time and penalties
  • Ongoing, full-time position + generous 20% Leave loading and 5 weeks annual leave

About the role

As the Welder, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development Asset and Maintenance (NDAM) Group.  Reporting to the Track Ganger, the Welder role is responsible for carrying out tasks associated with maintenance and renewal projects for the Victorian Rail Network including track, civil structures, and bridges.

 Key Accountabilities include:

  • Participate in the replacement or renewal of track work and crossing work materials.
  • Undertake aluminothermic welding activities as directed including distressing of track.
  • Operate and drive the welding truck when required for welding of the track.
  • There may be time where you will be required to work away from home and work either day and or afternoon shift.
  • Ensuring and maintaining a safe working environment for everyone.
  • Protecting the environment by ensuring environmental management plans are implemented and adhered too.
  • Continuous training and development available through our Internal Learning & Development Department.

The current roster is 5 days per week, operating a fortnightly rotating shift roster, week one will be Sunday to Thursday and Sunday to Wednesday with Week 2 Thursday being your fortnightly day off.  22.00-06.00 am supporting you with a work life balance and more time to do the things you enjoy.

Our Track Maintenance employees enjoy the benefits of working t our Asset enterprise Agreement, providing attractive leave loading, overtime, penalty rates for on call and emergency maintenance, and additional week of annual leave.

About you

 Essential Requirements include:

  • Aluminothermic Welding Certificate including tensing essential.
  • Certificate 2 in Rail Infrastructure essential
  • Safe Working Certificate
  • Track Vehicle Operator (TV01 or TV02) – Desirable
  •  Excavator, Loader & Backhoe License Desirable
  • Valid Heavy Rigid Drivers Licence
  • Zero harm safety attitude is essential.
  • Ability to work in a team or alone based on the task.
  • Previous experience in the rail industry highly desirable
  • Ability to work permanent night shift.

 Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019 / Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019) the hourly rate will be paid as an (IMW TRACK 2.2) plus superannuation, 20% leave loading and 5 weeks annual leave.
