Specialised Welding and Engineering (SWEL) are seeking a qualified and experienced first-Class Welder for our welding and fabrication business in Alice Springs, NT.
This position would require relocation as it a permanent role, not a FIFO position, and candidates would be assured of long-term employment.

Specific services cover steel and general fabrication, structural installs, plant and machinery repairs and maintenance, remote generator Installs and much more. Coded welding and welding inspections are particular areas of expertise. The company's capabilities are such that they are able to undertake small repair work as well as the fabrication of large, complex structures.
They are a one stop metal shop, fabricating and repairing everything from steel. This straightforward approach, allied to a relentless focus on quality workmanship and friendly client service is why they have earned an outstanding reputation in the region. They are the only ISO accredited fabrication business in Alice Springs and set to expand into Darwin by end of year.
Role:
- The role involves site and workshop based fabrication and welding (this is a hands on role)
- Pipe welding on stainless, aluminum and carbon steel (TIG essential)
- Support team for generation installation and associated fuel line, coolant line set up
- General workshop duties as required
- Coded welding as when required AS1796 NDT testing as required
Candidate
The successful candidate must hold relevant qualifications in welding and possess 7+ years post trade.
That experience must include the ability to read and understand drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications.
Other required skills include:
- The ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Proficiency in all welding processes e.g. MIG, TIG, Fluxcore etc
- The ability to work unsupervised in a workshop environment, co-ordinate jobs and lead a small team
- The ability to pass weld testing to NDT Standard (ultrasonic, DPI and MPI)
- The ability to weld on range of materials such as stainless, aluminium and carbon steel
Given the nature of the work, we are looking for a fit, healthy individual with a flexible approach to their work, coupled with a cooperative team player attitude.
The candidate understands that you will be a part of a team and will be required to undertake other duties within the position, including general fabrication, maintenance, a range of welding activities, and duties as required. This position is not solely for first-class welding.
Remuneration
Based on licenses, skills, and experience, the remuneration varies from $45 - $50 as full-time position with annual and personal leave. The wage is based on years of experience, licenses held, and proven ability to pass weld tests to 6G on a range of pipe sizes / ability to weld a range of materials such as stainless, aluminum, and carbon steel.
When working on remote sites, the remuneration is an additional $7.00 per hour.
Relocation costs for flights, accommodation, or fuel expenses are refunded (T&C's apply).
Rent assistance per week of up to $300 per week for the first six weeks
