SmithFab Pty Ltd in Condobolin NSW is seeking an experienced, dedicated and qualified full-time Welder to join their dynamic team.
SUMMARY:
Working in a manufacturing environment, you would be required to fabricate, weld, modify and assemble components in our workshop, and interpret drawings to meet Client specifications. The ability to plan and multitask whilst working autonomously or working as part of a team is also essential.
DUTIES:
Determine suitable material, machine settings, method and sequence of operations from the study of drawings
Checks all fabricated and assembled parts (metal) for accuracy, clearance and fit
Hammers, chips and grinds workpiece to cut, bend and straighten metal
Positions, aligns, fits and welds together parts. Channel purpose (CP) welding standard prerequisite
Verifies, conformance of work piece to specifications
Fabricates and assembles sheet metal products
Interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
Clean and prepare metal surfaces for welding by flame-cutting, thermal cutting, gouging, bevelling, and grinding of filing.
Cuts marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame-cutting torches and metal-cutting machines
Shapes and bends metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools and by heating and hammering
Examines welds for the width of bead, penetration and precision
Cleans and smooths welds by filing, chiseling and grinding
Comply with Health, Safety and Environment management systems, risk management processes, Quality assurance and statutory obligations
Promote a positive HSE culture in the workplace
Focus on the elimination of unsafe acts and rectify unsafe conditions quickly
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a trade Certificate in the nominated field and a minimum three years of experience
Experience in working within a fabrication workshop
Sound mechanical aptitude
Sound understanding of drawing interpretation
Ability to read and understand weld procedure
A remuneration package between $70,000 to $90,000 per annum plus superannuation will be negotiated depending on skills and experience.
