ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you mechanically inclined and passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives? We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Wheelchair Mechanic to join our close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and maintenance on manual wheelchairs, handcycles and power assist devices
- Conduct thorough assessments to diagnose issues and determine appropriate solutions
- Assemble, adjust and modify wheelchairs according to client specifications
- Test equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance
- Provide guidance and support to clients on the proper use and care of their wheelchairs
- Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and improve service delivery
- Minor administrative duties such as invoicing clients and placing orders for parts needed for repairs and modifications.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in wheelchair repair and maintenance is preferred but not essential. Experience working on basic mechanical equipment such as bicycles is suitable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient demeanour when interacting with clients
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Drivers licence
