As the Director of Workplace Health and Safety at Western Sydney University, I am thrilled to announce an opportunity within our valued Wellbeing Team. We are seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking individual to play a pivotal role in our mission to cultivate a culture of holistic wellbeing and safety within our university community.
As a key member of our team, you will spearhead the ongoing development and monitoring of the Universitys Psychosocial Risk Management Framework. This framework serves as the cornerstone of our commitment to nurturing a workplace environment that prioritises the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of all staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continually update and refine the University’s Psychosocial Risk Management Framework.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to mitigate psychosocial hazards effectively.
- Ensure alignment of activities with the Universitys overarching strategy to reduce Psychosocial Risks.
- Develop comprehensive documentation and engage with stakeholders to communicate relevant information.
- Oversee the management of nonwork related injuries and facilitate the creation of reasonable adjustment plans in compliance with the Disability Act.
- Collaborate closely with the existing injury management coordinator/case manager as needed.
- Foster collaboration across various departments to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace environment.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of workplace health and safety practices through continuous improvement initiatives.
- You have a robust background in Psychosocial Risk management, with experience developing, implementing, and monitoring programs at various organisational levels.
- Strong understanding of relevant safety and disability legislation, with proficiency in managing non-work related injuries and crafting reasonable adjustment plans.
- Familiarity with Workers Compensation System based Management, including providing support for an injury management coordinator or case manager.
- Experience in managing psychological and psychosocial-related compensation claims is advantageous.
- You excel in creating, updating, and disseminating essential documentation related to workplace health and safety.
- A systems-based thinker with a creative approach to problem-solving, coupled with excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder collaboration.
- You are deeply passionate about workplace health and safety and dedicated to promoting an inclusive work environment.

This is a full-time, ongoing appointment based at the Hawkesbury campus (Richmond NSW) with travel to other campuses as required. We also offer a hybrid working model with up to 2 x days WFH.
Remuneration Package: Higher Education Worker Level 8 - $130,740 to $145,135 p.a. (comprising base salary of $110,477 to $122,641 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading)
