H&S leader with contractor management experience for an 11-month assignment in a Top 1 mining company

Your new company 

Mining, rail, and port Top 1 company with multiple mine operations in WA, highly reputable in the industry and possess strong company values. Their operation consists of a mixture of surface and underground pits, enabling them to offer variety and career development.

Your new role 

As an WHS Specialist Supplier Engagement, you will be responsible for ensuring all suppliers across the business are compliant with the company Safety Management Systems of Work. Reporting to the Manager Health & Safety, your duties will include:

• Initial pre- & post-evaluation of safety management systems in the field via audits and engagement with suppliers and package managers.
• Ensure the business is kept well-informed of Supplier Engagement safety and compliance requirements by educating leadership
• Compile and analyse supplier data and establish and report against performance metrics
• Manage the Health and Safety requirements under the Supplier Engagement Process.
• Manage a business improvement approach to continually improving the Supplier Engagement process. 
• Build positive working relationships with suppliers and leaders to foster a culture of effectiveness, and influence process improvements and compliance with the company requirements.
• Undertake periodic audits against core supplier management framework elements.

What you'll need to succeed 

As the WHS Specialist Supplier Engagement, you will need the following experience and qualifications to successfully perform the duties.

• Experience in a leadership role within the field of Health & Safety
• Previous experience in Contractor Management
• Experience working FIFO in the resource sector is favourable, but not mandatory.
• Capable of accessing, interpreting, and synthesising literature and providing evidence-based advice
• Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or Risk Management & Lead Auditing Training
• A solid, but expanding, knowledge of the field of contemporary safety science and safety legislation
