Winemaker - Duxton Winery

Company Overview:
Duxton Winery is a private company which is located in the Sunraysia region of Australia. The business owns and operates several wine grape vineyards in the area with strong growth plans. With approximately 2,500 hectares of productive area the business produces 20% of fruit in the area annually and over 5% of Australia's annual crush. Duxton Vineyards works with some of the largest wine companies in Australia as well as the rest of the world.
Purpose of role:
Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, Duxton Winery is seeking to employ an experienced Winemaker on a full-time basis. This hands-on winemaking role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and executing cellar orders and operations. The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of winemaking throughout the year.
An outstanding work ethic, attention to detail, safety awareness and motivation to be involved in a team environment are absolute necessities. A strong passion for all aspects of wine, excellent communication skills and the ability to think strategically paired with commercial aptitude are all requirements for this position.
Key responsibilities and objectives:
Manage all winemaking operations on a daily basis with guidance on styles and operational procedures from the Senior Winemaker
Oversee implementation of winemaking specifications as well as subsequent and routine laboratory analysis during the fermentation, ageing and blending processes.
Managing both on and off-site bottling
Quality assurance within the winery
Ensure all winemaking procedures are carried out in a way that optimises quality and efficiency according to site policies and procedures.
Help manage and drive compliance in OH&S, management systems and process improvements.
Job Requirements For this role you will need:
Tertiary qualification in Science, Winemaking or Food Technology
Winemaking background essential.
1-2 years Winemaker or equivalent including vineyard, viticulture, or grower liaison experience.
