About the Role

Are you passionate about empowering women and fostering positive change within Indigenous communities? The Northern Land Council (NLC) is on the lookout for a visionary Women's Program Coordinator to drive change and champion female representation within the Caring for Country (CFC) program. This position plays a crucial role in developing and implementing programs that empower and support women in Indigenous communities. Working closely with a Steering Group, this role will revamp the Women's Employment and Engagement Strategy for the CFC service area and coordinate impactful programs across the organisation.

Moreover, the coordinator will lead a comprehensive review of existing women's engagement strategies, creating a revised Women's Employment and Engagement Strategy that upholds strong governance and cultural protocols tailored to address women's unique challenges.

About the NLC

Cultural knowledge and lived experience are central to the work that we do here at NLC. The Northern Land Council (NLC) was established 50 years ago under the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act in 1976, to assist Aboriginal people in the Top End of the NT to acquire and manage their traditional lands, waters and seas. We are committed to enhancing Aboriginal peoples social, political and economic participation by supporting their aspirations and amplifying their voices on a range of issues impacting on their lands, seas, culture and communities.

What you will Bring

  • Thorough understanding and practical experience in Cultural Awareness practices, kinship connections, and languages within the operational scope of the NLC.
  • Strong track record in strategic planning with proficient report writing skills.
  • Sound Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level cross-cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

In addition to this, you will have: -

  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as Leadership and Mentoring, Community Development or Natural Resource Management or minimum of four (4) years relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Sound computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence and the ability to travel remotely via 4wd and light aircraft.
  • Ochre card or the ability to obtain one.

What’s in it for you?

  • NLC offers competitive and attractive remuneration, work life balance and a unique opportunity to support our Aboriginal communities in the NLC Region.
  • This position is classified under our Enterprise Agreement at Senior Professional Officer (SPO), with a commencing base salary of $95,106 per annum.

In addition to base salary, you will receive:

  • 14% superannuation;
  • District allowance starting at $2,539 per annum
  • Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2,724;
  • Generous leave entitlements such as 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 18 days personal leave, and paid Christmas close down;
  • Salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 and additional Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
