This position is a full time role in the People and Safety team and is based at the Moruya Administration Office. As a Work Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator you will work closely with the Corporate Manager, People and Safety and the Leadership Team to embed a strong safety culture within the organisation whilst ensuring compliance with Health and Safety laws, Australian standards, compliance standards and codes of practice.
Your main duties will include:
– Implementing strategic Health and Safety initiatives and embedding the Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS) across Council.
– Manage Council’s Work Health and Safety Risk Register.
– Lead and coordinate the Work Health and Safety and Return to Work team.
– Coordinate WHS and wellbeing projects to ensure compliance with WHS legislation.
– Develop and maintain compliance monitoring schedule with a focus on continuous improvement and Safety culture embeddedness.
You will be an experienced WHS professional that is passionate about workplace safety and has a solution focused approach to WHS issues. You will have the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation and embed a safety-first culture across Council. Your application should further demonstrate the following:
- Tertiary qualification in WHS supported by demonstrated experience in WHS Management roles.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge and proven ability to successfully apply WHS legislation and an awareness of contemporary WHS practice and industry trends.
- Project and change management skills with a proven ability to collaborate in the development of strategic initiatives.
- Ability to lead a team and effectively coordinate workloads and manage performance.
- WHS Auditor qualification and/or experience managing internal performance metrics and audit functions.
